The Edmonton Humane Society cares for about 13,000 companion animals each year.
We provide the best care possible for animals and for the community, whether it is for an admission,
an adoption, or to help a family re-unite with a lost pet.
We placed almost 5,000 animals into their forever homes in 2008.

Special thanks to three very talented professional photographers who graciously donate their time regularly to us to photograph most of our adoptable shelter animals. Their pictures are used with the animals' profiles and are also scattered throughout this website. Thanks to:
- Byron Wong of Simply Light Photography;
- Erik Hornung of Erik Hornung Photography;
- Allison Anderson of Teagan Photography;
- Jenilee Dawson of Paws Up Photography
You can watch our adoptable animals on television, during regular weekly interview segments:
We accept all companion animals to our admitting department. We do not euthanize healthy animals to make room for more. Once an animal is available for adoption, it stays available until it finds a home, so sometimes this can affect kennel space. We want the best possible outcome for all animals, so occasionally we may ask people to hold on to an animal for a day or two longer if we are at capacity. Admissions Page
Lost & Found:
We do not handle lost and found animals within Edmonton's city limits, as this is the jurisdiction of the City of Edmonton's Animal Control Services. We DO handle animals lost or found in surrounding City of Edmonton communities. Lost & Found Animals Page
