At EHS, we understand that managing behaviour challenges can be stressful for both you and your pet. That’s why we offer private behaviour consultations with our expert trainers, who work one-on-one with you and your pet. Following the consultation session, you will receive recommendations and a customized plan to help you begin working toward your goals.
These consultations are available for both dogs and cats.

This unique service will provide you and your family with knowledge and techniques to manage a variety of behaviour challenges in a customized plan.
All dog consultation sessions are held in-person at EHS in a private consult room.

Dogs must have veterinary proof of current vaccinations for both DHLPP and rabies. A canine cough vaccine is highly recommended. Puppies require a minimum of two sets of vaccines. Puppies vaccinated by a breeder that is not a DVM will not be accepted.
Cat behaviour concerns can be complex, and every cat and household is unique. During this private virtual consultation, one of our trainers will meet with you one-on-one to discuss your concerns, assess your cat’s environment and routines, and provide practical recommendations tailored to your household.
All private cat consultations are held virtually, allowing the trainer to learn more about your cat’s home environment while your cat remains in a familiar and comfortable space.

After you have registered for your private consultation, you will receive an email providing detailed information for your session.
For in-person dog consultations, we’ll also include details on where to go and instructions for dogs with any special considerations.
For virtual cat consultations, we’ll include details on how you can join your virtual session.
You and the trainer will get to know each other, the animal’s history and current challenges. This provides the trainer with the information to recommend the best hands-on practice, theories and methods to be used.
It’s important we understand the current challenges and your pet’s history, as it sets the foundation for your customized plan. These plans will provide you with the confidence to work with your pet and gauge results.
We need a minimum of 48 business hours notice for cancellations/rescheduling, so please email askthespecialist@edmontonhumanesociety.com as soon as possible to reschedule your consultation.
No shows or cancellation requests with less than 48 hours notice will not be refunded.
We book up quickly for consultations and ask that you arrive approximately 10 minutes before your scheduled appointment to ensure you get the most out of your session.
If you are more than 15 minutes late for your consult without notice, the session will be considered a no-show. No refunds or transfers will be considered.
You are welcome to bring any family/household members that would be helping with the dog along with you. All children 12 and under must be accompanied by an adult at all times.
No, we limit consultations to one dog at a time.
