UPDATE: The Edmonton Humane Society's Annual General Meeting was held on Tuesday, May 27th.
Of the 120 people present, 86 were voting members. 56 members cast a vote
in the election of board members who will serve the EHS in a governance capacity.
In total, 6 candidates were up for re-election. The results are as follows:
Scott Boyer - 49 votes
David Harper - 51 votes
Charlene Weiss - 51 votes
Jo-Anne Vitek - 55 Votes
Lora Zaprianova - 55 votes
Leigh Dyrda - 55 votes

The Edmonton Humane Society (EHS) is seeking board members to contribute to the Society's commitment to helping homeless and abused companion animals, enlightening people, and enriching lives.

Who you are:
Of course, as a member in good standing of the EHS, you love animals, and are committed to the values, mission, goals and objectives of the EHS. You are an experienced senior manager, with expertise to share in one or more of the following areas:
- community relations;
- risk management;
- policy development and/or fundraising.
You understand and respect the differences between governance and operations, and are a strategic thinker who eagerly considers new ideas and respects other opinions.
You are able to commit 10 - 15 hours per month to prepare and review Board documents; attend Board meetings; and complete action items. You are also able to give additional time if needed, for committee, task force work, and attendance at EHS events.

About the Board Term:
Each board member is elected to a two year term, with the option to renew for a maximum of three additional terms (total 8 years). Nominations are held annually for vacant positions and new members are elected by the membership at the Annual General Meeting.
